At first he didn't like having his hair cut but it was more being strapped into a chair with someone he didn't know cutting on his hair. We took him to a place that cuts children's hair. It was a really neat place for kids. Ben's hair stylist was so good with him. He lost quite a bit of hair..He looks like a little boy not a baby anymore...It's had to believe that he is almost 16 months. Where oh where does time go? He is such a handsome little man but of course I'm his Grammy..It's melts my heart to pieces when he calls me Grammy..It's is definitely a very special name..

Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-74304527301912405902008-07-13T18:25:00.006-04:002008-07-13T19:56:35.652-04:00Picking RaspberriesJo, Sue, Ben & I went raspberry picking...Ben didn't actually picked the berries...I held him and put some berries in his container. He would then take the berries and try to feed me. So needless to say Jo and Sue pick most of the berries. Ben and I pick only a few as the berry bushes are way too picky for him..Here are a few pics of Ben and the raspberries.

We are trying to pick different berries to eat and then we are freezing most of them..It will be a good treat this winter when we are snowed in again..We are going to go back next week and pick blueberries.....Blueberries are one of Ben's favorites..

Next week we are going to take Ben for his first offical hair cut...Mommy has been holding off...His curls are so cute....but Daddy really wants his hair cut..He wants him to look like a little boy..I think he looks like a very adorable handsome little boy..but of course I'm his Grammy...Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-668801907349139402008-07-10T20:30:00.008-04:002008-12-13T07:39:01.692-05:00Our Little Man<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1knB2jsoopyYRkVaNBVsj6O654yvVT76VJW8u3B0ngcWUD002hoQAz5LFWeDH_LjTQx7R16FPGm8TVlOaIII4avLvB962DnBLbI9t5zO3g5Zcy8mL_PFJQ2YqJvDiDzxzgzOis9UKCJGa/s320/596005123_33.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221553470352457346" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU6H6ED87H5buFAUuD7fwDwxLKPr0eHf7obP8-adk9Km7rYlv53VPdCtK5GyFbm5AV45OGEbwvoWH3FbGWLZydSWFI6xMGQ9EjF0fV0QHw9hc6xTc7GerPSBMYrL2tzZJ5PeKL4f1QJaFa/s320/596005123_16.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5221552401026250114" />
I wanted to share some photos that were recentlly taken of Ben. We wanted to thank each and every one of you that held Cody in your prayers.. Again this year there is no set cost for dinner and instead donations will be accepted and encouraged!

This year they will be donating the money that they collect to a special little boy!

Cody Bryant-Oldham is eleven months old and was recently diagnosed with AML- Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This is one of the most difficult forms of childhood leukemia to treat successfully. He is likely to be hospitalized at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital for up to six months for treatment. His illness has created a financial hardship for his parents, Dana and Shannon Bryant-Oldham and we are hoping to help out with our donations.

Hope to see some of you there..

Cody had surgery yesterday since he had a crack in his line. The doctors replaced his line and shunt. Cody's hair is starting to fall out. The other day he touched his hair and some came out..Cody looked at it and said "oh!' The hospital's hairdresser will be shaving his hair so Cody will be a blad baby..otherwise he appears to be doing so much better.. Maybe we can get him some cute hats..

Thank you so much for all of your prayers...They have a long journey ahead of them.Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-13004569512294056992008-01-24T18:54:00.000-05:002008-12-13T07:39:02.965-05:00Fund Raiser
We are having a fundraiser on Saturday 1/26/07 at Spare Time Recreation from 11:00-4:00 to help raide money for Cody and his family. There is a bowling tournament going on and we are going to be there raising money for Cody..Please pass the word along to anyone who wants to stop by. It's a good start to raising money for Shannon, Dana and Cody. Hope to see many of you there.

Cody was given platelets yesterday. The doctor also took out one of his lines as he didn't need it at this time..Barb said that his eyes look so much better...

The school PTO is going to put on a Spaghetti Dinner for Cody in the near future..I don't have dates yet...Continue to pray for Cody and his family..They need all the love and support that we can give them.Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-39253627299425808572008-01-23T19:38:00.000-05:002008-01-23T19:39:54.424-05:008th day of ChemoCody has had 8 days of chemo.. He has two more days to go for phase one. The doctors also gave him a blood transfusion yesterday. Because of all the liquids and chemo he goes through lots and lots of clothes..He usually goes through 7-8 jammies a day. He tends to retains some fluids thus he has some swelling.. He needs loose clothing so it doesn't bother his shunt which is for the chemo treatments.

Cody is weary of anyone who walks through the door. If he doesn't know you he thinks you are there to poke and prod him.

Shannon tries to keep her spirits up but it is so difficult..Cody turns ll months in two days..He is still active as he is crawling and standing. The floor is very slippery so Cody needs socks that have grippers on them.

We want to thank all the different people who offer to get PJ's, socks and other things for Cody. It is so much appreciated by everyone. Thanks a million to all of Cody's angels and friends out there. Is so amazing how much people care that don't even know Cody.

Please continue to pray for Cody and his family.. We will try to keep everyone updated and posted on how Cody is doingJoanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-82139730187200316832008-01-21T16:19:00.000-05:002008-12-13T07:39:03.364-05:00Spaghetti AnyoneI wanted to share some photos of Ben from the other night. As far as Leukemia is concerned there are two kinds you could have , ALL or AML, Aml being the worse of the two. They did find out yesterday that Cody does indeed have AML....., the prognosis for children Cody's age is not good, for children 1-4 yrs old with AML they have a 23% survival rate.

Phase 1 is the first round of chemo.which started today. They will do 10 treatments in 1 month. Then they will stop and do another test and see what his count is.If there are still cancer cells they will wait a bit and then begin Phase 2 which is the 2nd round of chemo, 10 treatments for another month, stop , test again, and do Phase 3 if needed which is another round of chemo. After Phase 3 is when the decision would be made if he would need to have a bone marrow transplant. He is scheduled to be in the hospital for the next 6 weeks, but it could be up to 6 months. Because his immune system would be down, he is likely to catch many things, but it would not be from others necessarily , but from himself and the bacteria that his own body creates, he won';t be able to fight them. His blood type is O+ and they are looking into what can be done to have people tested as possible donors for the bone marrow if needed.

A normal child/ person should have a white blood cell count around 7500, when Cody went into the hospital for testing his count was at 70, by Tuesday his white blood cell count was at 125.The good piece of news was that when they did his spinal test there were no cancer cells found there so that means there is no cancer in his organs or body cells, so that is good.

Please continue to pray for Cody and his family. It's so hard to imagine such a little guy fighting for his life..I will have a picture tomorrow and will post it so you have a picture of him when you pray for him. Thanks so much for all of your prayers..
Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-61008523358510591972008-01-14T10:19:00.000-05:002008-01-14T10:32:24.291-05:00Prayers for CodyI want to ask all of you if you would pray for a little baby who has been diagnose with Leukemia. Cody Oldham is 10 1/2 months old. He is a first baby to Shannon and Dana Oldham. They are taking this real hard.

Cody hasn't been feeling well for quite some time. Shannon had to take him to the emergency room Friday night...They finally diagnosed him with Leukemia.

They are to be back at the hospital for 9am Monday morning. They will be doing the bone marrow test at that time and will get results on Tuesday as to what kind of Leukemia it is and what stage it is at. Once they know this they will begin the first round of chemotherapy for 6 weeks. There is a possibility that Cody could not return home for 6months once they begin. It is very serious when an infant of Cody's age gets Leukemia. They do not know how long he has had it and the doctor said it would be pretty difficult to determine that. The doctor said he has a 50/50 chance at this point.

It sounds like the doctor is very honest and forthright with them. The doctor told them that the test will be sent to New Mexico and Maryland-to John Hopkins for results. The Barbara Bush hospital in Portland works hand in hand with St. Jude, John Hopkins and Dana Farber providing the same treatment that they do at their facilities so Cody is in great care there and the doctor said if he felt they needed to be elsewhere he would send them. The swelling around Cody's eyes and his full body rash have most likely been caused by the amoxocylin they had given for his sinus infection last week. He is no longer on meds for that as they will not help. His belly is tender in spots, his face hurts as well to touch, they noticed some swelling in his legs along the sock line, so there are symptoms appearing and as the doctor gave them more possible symptoms of Leukemia, they were able to connect a few , like his excessive sweating and easy bruising, etc...
There are two possible types of Leukemia, one much worse than the other....so we'll keep praying for the best possible outcome in this situation.

So please, please keep them in your prayers. He is such a sweet and adorable little baby boy. So please pray for Cody and his family and the doctors.Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-41428941605229686472008-01-11T18:52:00.001-05:002008-01-11T19:05:23.445-05:00Our Little ManWow! Where does time go? The little baby that Joleene and Jason brought home has turned into a little boy. He talks so much...and is constantly on the go..He crawls and climbs everywhere. We have to be on constant alert..He loves to pull himself up. It's now no Ben, No Ben!! Let me tell you about my day with Ben.

I usually babysit Ben on Mondays since It's Grammy's day. Ben and I was playing with his train on the rug. Ben loves to play with trains. Any way I had to run into the kitchen for a moment. The kitchen is only a few feet from the living room.I ran back into the living room to find Ben wasn't sitting on the rug playing anymore. I started yelling, Benjamin! Benjamin!! I thought he might have crawled under the chair or something but he wasn't there. I turned around and Ben was sitting by the front door watching his Grammy frantically looking and calling him..What a learning experience..

Later on I had to go to the bathroom which was right next to the living room. Ben decided he had to follow me and he proceeded to try to get into the cat food..My little man was getting into trouble again. We were so excited when Ben started crawling forgetting what kind of mischief he would be getting into...Needless to say Ben and Grammy had an exciting day..Grammy was worned out by the time Joleene came home but I wouldn't give up my Grammy Day for anything.

I do love spending time with my little man. It's my special time with him. It's so amazing how much one little baby can make us turn into mush. I just love his little laugh and smile. He jabbles and talks so much.. Ben brings so much love and laughter into our lives..Here are a few pics that we have taken. I will try to do better and update more often...Have a wonderful week...

Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-44812011059590287712007-12-29T09:26:00.000-05:002007-12-29T09:45:09.157-05:00Merry ChristmasMerry Christmas to all..These last few weeks have been so busy and hectic. Work has been so stressful. It's nice to be able to relax and enjoy my family.

Ben first Christmas was nice. He is such a nice and even tempered baby. It's hard to believe he's growing up so fast. Ben is 8 1/2 months. He's into everything. He's crawling. standing and pulling himself up..His grandparents bought him a rider flyer wagon/walker. He does a great job walking with it across the floor. He also can sit in the wagon and we can push him.

It's so amazing how one little baby can just make your heart melt. He's so very special to us..I'm so thankful for my family and our little Ben.

Ben and I made a paper Christmas tree out of Ben's hand print and the ornaments are Ben's thumb prints. We kept teasing Mommy and telling Ben's not to tell Grammy's secret. I want to do lots of crafts ideas with Ben as he gets older. It's so much fun.

I do hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas. You are all so dear to me.
Here are a few pictures of Ben and our Christmas. The girls made a photo book of Me and Ben for Christmas. I just loved it. It's amazing how much our little guy has grown. Do enjoy the New Year with your family.

Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-26351225426480722452007-12-18T14:56:00.000-05:002007-12-24T21:22:14.016-05:00Christmas TagWrapping paper or gift bags?
I do both. Gift bags are easier but I also like to use wrapping paper. I definately will use wrapping paper for Ben.

Real tree or artificial?
Definately a real tree! I do enjoy the smell of a real tree. I keep saying I.m going to get a fake one but I won't.

When do you put up the tree?
We usually put it a few weeks before Christmas.

When do you take the tree down?
The day after CHristmas..and somettimes that Christmas night.

Favorite holiday theme?
I would have to say Angels and snowmen.

Favorite gift received as a child?
The year I received a blue hair walking doll. She was beautiful. We didn't have much money for toys so that was one Christmas that I remember.

Do you have a nativity scene?
Yes, but I would love the willow tree nativity. I think the willow trees angels are so beautiful.

Hardest person to buy for?
It use to be my Mom when she was alive. This year it was Sue.

Easiest person to buy for?
Ben

Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
I can't think of anything at the moment.

Mail or email cards?
Cards. I do love seeing family pics of kids, etc.

Favorite Christmas movie?
It's a wonderful life and Rudolph and Frosty.

When do you start shopping for Christmas?
After Black Friday. I have such a hard time wanting to shop as I work in retail.

Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Yes but not to anyone in my family.

Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Pasta. We like to have a nice relaxing day.

White lights or colored on the tree?
Colored lights. White lights seen so bland to me.

Favorite Christmas song?
Where are you Christmas?, Frosty the Snowman, Away in a Manager.

Travel for Christmas or stay at home?
Stay home. But with Ben it will be traveling so we can see him in his own home. Right now I don't have to travel as we are staying with Joleene.

Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
No.

Angel on the tree top or a star?
Angel. I like to use an angel that we had since the kids were little.

Open the presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
We open one present on Christmas Eve and then the rest on Christmas Day.

Most annoying thing about this time of year?
The grumpy people with attitudes. Where is the Christmas spirit. Sometimes it seems it all about themselves...me..me...

What I love most about Christmas?
Spending time with family and trying to suprise them which gets harder and harder each year.

Merry Christmas to all of you. You are all so very special to me.Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-79056530234426800052007-12-02T16:55:00.000-05:002007-12-03T16:40:39.956-05:00Snow DayIt's so hard to believe that Ben is almost 8 months. He is such a little character. He's starting to make his likes and dislikes known.Yesterday he said his first word. He kept saying it quite a few times. Try to guess what he said.. Joleene will tell you on her blog..

We have snow and snow today...Joleene had a snow day today so Grammy and Mommy spent the day with Ben. Auntie Sue had to go to work..It was a bit scary driving in to work. We aren't use to driving a ways to work. Mommy and Grammy took Ben outside in the snow. He didn't know what to make of it. Uncle Chris if you reading this think of all the snow you're missing. Here are some pics of Ben;

Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-81170747527105030312007-11-25T18:41:00.000-05:002007-11-26T08:46:16.799-05:00Family GatheringWe had a small gathering since Sarah and John were home for the holidays. Joshua, Theresa's son is here for a few weeks. He is being sent to Irag so it's nice that he can spend time with his family and friends.

Sarah and John's son Grayson is such a sweet little boy. Most of the family hadn't met this little guy yet. Grayson is 3 months old. Sarah is Mary's daughter and Stacy's sister. He's so cute and still has most of his hair. Here are a few pics we took. As a whole our family has so much to be thankful for. Aunt Jeanne is doing well. We have lots of new babies that were born in the family this year. They are all so precious and sweet...Being an Auntie and Grammy is just great.... Auntie Sue has also started her own blog..She has finally join in with the rest of us...

Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-55250005333809931682007-11-24T18:21:00.000-05:002007-11-25T08:53:18.235-05:00ThanksgivingI know it's been awhile since I wrote. It's really great being around Ben. He's such a special little boy. He lost that little baby look and looks like a little boy. He's Grammy little boy. Monday's is usually my day with Ben. I tried to write on my blog when I take care of him but he doesn't usually let me. He sits on my lap while I try to update and plays with my keys. He loves all this electronic stuff. You know keyboards, remotes, phones...on my...He's pounds on my keyboards and changes the page on Grammy..It's more difficult to update my blog as the internet carrier we have is so bad...... it's slower than molasses.... We use to have high speed internet..Sue and I miss that part...plus our computer isn't working...We're using Joleene's..

Thanksgiving was nice and quiet. I'm so thankful for my family and our little man. I can't get over how much one little person can mean to you. I love my kids but being a Grammy is just wonderful. He is growing up so fast. He's wants to be on the floor and on the go...He's starting to crawl and loves to be in his jump a roo. He looked so cute in his white button shirt and corduroys. Here's are a some pics that we took.

Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-80425371984881194462007-11-13T18:15:00.000-05:002007-11-15T19:35:30.524-05:00A New Little FriendOn Thursday Ben & I went and hung out with some of my teacher friends. I do miss working with the kids. It is so rewarding and can be frustrating at the same time but the time I spend with Ben is so worth it. I love being with my grand-baby. Sue and I do enjoy our little man. She just loves being an Auntie. It's hard to believe he's already seven months. Grammy and Mommy have been taking Ben to the doctors for the last few weeks. He finally doesn't have to go back until he gets the other part of his flu shot. His lungs sound really good.

Ben sat on the floor and played with Gabriella. She was born 1 week before Ben. She wanted Ben's toys and Ben wanted her toys. Ben kept going after her shinny black shoes. After work I went to the daycare to get Ben and met my friends. I grabbed the diaper bag from daycare not realizing that there weren't any daipers in it. So Ben had to borrow a diaper from his new little friend, Ella.

He's getting ready for crawling. Oh no!! Watch out!! Mommy, Auntie Sue and Grammy will be looking and pricing baby gates.

Being a Grammy is just one of the greatest things ever. We sing so much to our little guy. I lost count on how manyy times we sing to him to get him to stop crying. He's getting better at being in the car. Riding is not one of his favorite things to do.

Here are a few pics of Ben & Gabriella.

Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-36916252364376546162007-11-06T18:37:00.000-05:002007-11-06T18:53:12.215-05:00Fun in the leavesI took Ben to the doctors for a follow-up appointment with his doctor as his Mommy had to go to work. She took a good part of last week off since Ben was so sick. He is doing so much better. He only needs to do his breathing treatment twice a day. He has to go back next week to the doctors. He'll get his flu shot next week too as he's been too sick to get it before. Even though he's been sick he's always has a smile. He's such a good baby.

I've been wanting to take Ben's picture in the leaves so I took him out after we got back from the doctors. He was so funny. I kept trying to take his pic and he kept trying to eat the leaves. Grammy kept telling him "No Ben, no Ben." He is so precious to us. Being a Grammy is just one of the greatest things ever. I do so enjoyed it so much. Here are the pics I took of Ben in the leaves. They are some of my favorite. It hard to believe that our little man is almost seven months old. Time really does fly.

Joanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09330101395013142347noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2083542855220168826.post-56230135539069392152007-10-29T13:03:00.000-04:002007-10-29T14:24:09.970-04:00Our Little ScarecrowSaturday evening Sue and I stopped by to see Stacy and her kids at their Harvest party at their church. It was cute to see all the little ones dressed up. The kids were all having lots of fun. Our little Benjamin was dressed up as a scarecrow. He kept watching everyone as their were lots of kids in different outfits.Kelsey and Kaylee were ducks, Jordan a fireman just like his daddy and Latoya a very pretty princess.Ben kept giving Mary kisses and loves. Here are a few pics that we took.

Ben's daycare had a Halloween party this weekend. We took Ben to the party to visit his little friends. The children at daycare kept coming up to him for hugs and kisses. Ben is well loved at daycare. He is the youngest baby there.
